Funerals

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:8

The death of a loved one can be a very difficult time for the family and friends who are left to organise the funeral while at the same time dealing with their own grief. The Catholic Parish of Forster-Tuncurry will work with families and funeral directors to make the preparations for the funeral ceremony a comfortable and transparent process.

Order of Service

The Parish Priest will meet with your family before the funeral to discuss the details of the order of service. The order of service will differ depending on whether the ceremony is a Liturgy of the Word or Mass of Christian Burial. The Parish Priest will discuss the options for readings, hymns, prayers, words of remembrance and your family’s participation in the funeral ceremony.

Funeral Arrangements

A Funeral Director can help you with your funeral arrangements and will communicate your wishes to the parish. A funeral director will talk you through the process and assist your family with preparations for the funeral such as the location, date and time, type of service, casket, floral arrangements, burial or cremation and wake.

Columbarium and Memorial Garden

The Forster Tuncurry Catholic Parish has built Columbaria in it’s meditation garden annexed to the Holy Name of Jesus Church, Forster. Niches are currently available for reservation. If you are considering a cremation see our COLUMBARIUM & MEMORIAL GARDEN page for more details.
