“providing restful and respectful surrounds for remembrance of loved ones and the preservation of their mortal remains”
What is a Columbarium?
A Columbarium is a wall of niches to hold the ashes of loved ones. The Forster Tuncurry Catholic Parish has built Columbaria in it’s meditation garden annexed to the Holy Name of Jesus Church, Forster. It has been constructed for the reverent holding of human ashes of parishioners and their family members.
Placing of Ashes
At the completion of the funeral service the body is cremated. A short time later, the Crematorium will contact the family and advise them that the ashes are available for collection. The family will then contact our Parish to arrange final inurnment of ashes in the reserved Columbarium niche. A ceremony is performed as part of the funeral inurnment offering.
